About Sonder: A blog of Seattle Arts & Lectures

English: noun. the realization that each random passerby is living a life as vivid and complex as your own.

“Sonder” is a word of many meanings that tell many different stories. In French, it means “to probe,” and in Swedish (as “sönder”), it translates to “asunder.” Here, as a blog, Sonder becomes a wall of windows into different perspectives and a place to  connect the dots between them, as we do when we find a story in a constellation’s isolated stars.

The stories that belong to the Seattle Arts & Lectures community–writers, speakers, students, teachers, readers, supporters, listeners, and all points in between–open new ideas, questions and moments of inspiration. This blog is a place to collect, consider and exchange these stories. On Sonder, we hope to capture the flicker of others’ vivid complexities– and continue on our way, changed.
