Photo Gallery: WITS Back to School Breakfast 2015

On September 17, nearly 200 of us gathered at the Seattle Aquarium for the second annual Back to School Breakfast. We heard students who—through the power of pen and voice—transformed a dolphin into the sunrise in “The Discovery of the Sunrise” and delivered a passionate, brave treatise on reaching for dreams and opportunity in “Patterns.” A proud parent shared her daughter’s blooming confidence, we heard a teacher’s stories about the healing power of WITS in her classroom, and one of our longest-standing Writers-in-Residence reflected on how WITS has shown up for her, and why she will continue to show up for WITS.

Then, WITS Founder Kip Robinson Greenthal took the stage to celebrate two decades of WITS and asked the room to come together to raise $50,000. In a show of amazing support, our community invested $70,140 to support the Writers in the Schools program. Because of the incredible gifts of partners like you, WITS will reach an unprecedented number of students this year, in more schools, more classrooms, through the Youth Poet Laureate initiative, and in creative writing camps this summer. Thank you.
